POTSDAM – The Potsdam High School Drama Club will present “Footloose” Friday, April 6, and Saturday, April 7, at 7 p.m.

Tickets will cost $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.

“Footloose” is the story of Ren McCormack (Jacques Kuno), a teenage boy from Chicago who moves with his mother, Ethel (Melanie Atkinson), to the small town of Bomont after being abandoned by his father.

Upon his arrival in Bomont, Ren finds himself at odds with most of the town, including the respected Reverend Shaw Moore (Daniel Caamaño) who outlawed dancing in response to a terrible tragedy.

Ren, who loves to dance, wants people to be free from their grief and, consequently, this law. With the help of Ariel (Caroline Bergan), the Reverend’s rebellious daughter, and Willard (Danny Clark), a country boy who becomes his best friend, he seeks to convince the Reverend and the entire town there is a time to mourn, but also a time to dance.

The Reverend’s wife, Vi Moore (Hannah Holt), struggles between supporting her husband, and wanting to move on from the past.

Ariel’s three friends, Rusty (Alison Ettinger-DeLong), Wendy Jo (Katelyn Clemons), and Urleen (Marissa Carl), serve as both narrators and strong companions to her -- in fantasy and reality. Ariel’s aggressively antagonistic boyfriend is Chuck Cranston (Chris Brooks). Lyle and Travis are Chuck’s friends, played by Tonnie Reasoner and Derek Weston.

Ren’s aunt, Lulu, and uncle, Wes, are played by Emilee Smith and David Timmerman, respectively. Jeter, Bickle, and Garvin are played by Gabe Kessler, Nolan Anderson, and Connor Gray, respectively.

Coach Roger Dunbar and Eleanor Dunbar are played by Cole Fayette and Hunter Wilson, respectively. Principal Clark is played by Hannah Pcolar and Jim the Cop is played by Carlos Bravo. Betty Blast is played by Gabby Sutliff and Cowboy Bob is played by Sylvain Foisy.

Ensemble members include Abby Hughes, Addi Herrick, Alex Jones, Brandon Rawson, Ana Jukic, Ani Akin, Brittany Martin, Daniela Pena, Emma Thomas, Gracie McFadden, Juliana Skufca, Julie Plastino, Kayla Giffin, Kelia Murphy, Louisa Moosbrugger, Luca Pecora, and Shannon Todd.

Crew members include Katherine Betrus, Matthew Booth, Morgan Busch, Violet Dean, Ellie DeRosa, Emma French, Paul Heer, Lilly Kenyon, Eugene Li, Brooke Moore, Iva Petrovic, Lauren Shipp, Emily Smith, Katie Theobald, Margaret Wallace, and Annie Yang.

The stage manager is Violet Dean, and the directors are Laura DiMatteo and Cheryl Doyle.

Tickets can be bought through the high school and middle school main office, from a cast or crew member, at the door before the show, or by emailing aettingerdelong040@potsdam.k12.ny.us to reserve tickets ahead of time.
