POTSDAM – Potsdam High School choirs, string ensemble, and orchestra will present a spring concert Tuesday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
The Treble Choir will begin the evening with a Canadian folk song accompanied by Kelsey Travis on flute.
The piece, conducted by student teacher Anna Taube, features soloists Rhea LaFleur, Ariana Frascatore, and Jenny Tardelli.
They will conclude with a rousing modern day spiritual by Rosephanye Powell and accompanied by PHS alumnus Ben Stone.
Concert Choir conducted by Tammara Madeja and accompanied by Dr. Julie Miller will perform a variety of folk songs and masterworks including "Achieved is The Glorious Work" from The Creation by Haydn and Vaughan Williams, The Turtle Dove, which features seniors Drew Gruneisen and Elizabeth Miraglia.
Senior Michael Burns will be featured on the traditional spiritual Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit by William Dawson.
The main portion of the orchestra program will consist of the orchestral suite, Orpheus and the Underworld, by Jacque Offenbach. One of the movements is better known as the Can-Can.
String Ensemble will play a variety of Celtic music.
The concert is free and open to the public.
