POTSDAM -- The Guest House Bed and Breakfast at 1844 House, 6885 US Highway 11, will host an ongoing series of cocktail classes at 4 p.m. on various Saturdays from Sept. 3 through Oct. 22.
General Manager Barry Sears will lead the classes, which will last approximately one hour.
All classes are $25 per person and participants must be ages 21 and up. Light food and drink samples will be served at all sessions.
Classes are limited to 10 people and reservations can be made at 274-0080 or guesthouse@1844house.com. The schedule is as follows:
Sept. 3, The Basics; Setting up and stocking a home bar, getting the proper tools, making simple syrup and more.
Sept. 17, Martinis and Manhattans; Exploration of the evolution these classic drinks have taken over the years, including some more modern takes.
Oct. 1, Entertaining with Pitcher Cocktails; Making cocktails for larger groups.
Oct. 8, Fall Cocktails; Investigation of what makes a great seasonal cocktail, featuring simple hot cider.
Oct. 15, Creating and Using Your Own Infused Spirits; Explanation of the process and discussion of the synergistic effect of multiple flavors on taste.
Oct. 22, Bourbon 101; Discussion of the different styles of bourbon and how to use this knowledge to make great Bourbon cocktails.
