Potsdam Figure Skating Club's 'Jukebox Saturday Night' ice show is March 17

POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Figure Skating Club will hold it’s annual ice show on Saturday, March 17, at 6 p.m. at Clarkson University’s Cheel arena.

The club will feature two graduating seniors this year. Both girls are not only members of the club, but have been coaching for two years with the association.

Breanna Cardinal is a senior at Potsdam Central School. She is the daughter of Lisa and Randy Cardinal. She will be attending SUNY Cortland in the fall majoring in business economics and also plans to minor in communications and sports management.

[img_assist|nid=229725|title=Hayes|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=150|height=220]She has achieved her United States gold medal in dance and her Canadian dance gold medal. Cardinal has also completed her Intermediate Freestyle and Novice MIF. She has won and medaled several times at the Empire State Games, participated at State Games of America and competed twice at Showcase Nationals.

In 2016 she and Jacqui Scibor were the gold medalists in the Adult Duet division at Showcase Nationals held in Cleveland, Ohio. Cardinal has been competing in synchronized skating since she started skating.

She has skated for the Shooting Stars, Ice Angels, Saint Sensations, and ended with a very successful season with the Rainbow Connection. She will truly miss her synchro family. Cardinal has been a member of the Potsdam and Ogdensburg Figure skating clubs' staffs for the past 2 years. She has coached both group and private lessons and will also coach while attending SUNY Cortland.

Kennedy Hayes is a senior at Parishville-Hopkinton Central School. She is the daughter of Kevin & Cassie Hayes. She loves figure skating and has been skating since she was two years old.

Kennedy has achieved four gold medals from the United States Figure Skating Association. She has a gold medal for Moves In the Field, Free Dance, USFS Dance and Skate Canada Gold Dances. She is on her novice freestyle. Kennedy has competed at the Empire State Games, State Games of America and has skated on several synchronized skating teams.

Hayes is a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year recipient of the Gold Presidential Award and Academic Excellence. She received the George Eastman Scholarship for Leadership and the Elmira Key Award for Academic Excellence.

Hayes will be attending college in the fall. She intends on majoring in communication and language disorders and minoring in sign language.

She wants to become an audiologist and work with the deaf. Hayes intends to skate and coach while in college. Hayes would like to thank her coach Alicia Walters and Tomas Morbacher for everything they have done for her.
