MADRID – The Madrid Dam Music Series continues its summer performances with concert by the Potsdam Community Band Wednesday, July 19, from 6-8 p.m., at Madrid Community Park Pavilion.
The nearly 80-member band will play a classic selection of anthems, marches, summer fun-feeling presentations and family favorites, and feature a dramatic moment in their program for the evening.
Among their set list will be performances of “Officer of the Day,” a march by R.B. Hall; “Adirondack Festival Overture” by Steven Bulla, a mix of Adirondack fiddle tunes, “Seventy Six Trombones,” “Bernstein Tribute,” featuring the music of Leonard Bernstein, “Fate of the Gods” by Steven Reineke, “The Bare Necessities” from “The Jungle Book,” selections from “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Emblem of Unity,” a march by J.J. Richards, Gershwin’s “They Can't Take That Away From Me,” sung by Laura Gilbert, accompanied by PCB, and “The Belle of Chicago,” a march by John Philip Sousa.
The concert series’ Madrid Moment will feature the Madrid Community Churches and faith-based organizations.
There will a single item auction to raise funds for the building of a new band stand.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the St. Lawrence County Power and Equipment Museum.
Notices will be posted on the series’ FB page, and there will be signage at parking areas with any re-location announcements.
Call 315-265-2047 prior to noon on the day of the performance for more information.
All MDMS shows are free to attend, but the series does accept donations.
MDMS performances are no smoking and no alcohol events.
