POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Community Band will begin a series of rehearsals on Monday, Nov. 3 in preparation for a mid-January public concert. Rehearsals are held in the Potsdam High School band room from 7 to 9 p.m.
Practices are slated for Nov. 3 and 17, Dec. 1 and 15, and Jan. 5 and 8. The band’s winter concert is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 11 at 3 p.m. in Hosmer Hall at the Crane School of Music.
Attendance at the January 8 dress rehearsal is mandatory for all players.
Musicians are asked to arrive at rehearsals early to be warmed up for a prompt 7 p.m. start.
New players are invited.
Any adult who can play a standard woodwind, brass or percussion band instrument at a high school level or above is welcome.
School-aged players are required to have a note from their school band teacher.
Band director Theresa Witmer strives to strike a balance between repertoire that most of the band can play, but also presents a challenge.
Players are asked to attend a minimum of four rehearsals and to practice on their own.
