POTSDAM --- The Potsdam Food Co-op will celebrate 45 years in the North Country with its first Local Food Fest on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The public event will take place rain or shine under the big tents for a day of food, music, and other activities. The festive event is an opportunity to sample many local foods and learn more about the Co-op.
This event is replacing the Co-op’s annual open house as a way to showcase many of the foods and products the North Country has to offer.
Everyone who shops in the store on the day of the Local Food Fest will receive a 10 percent discount on their purchases, which is an additional 10 percent off for Co-op member-owners.
In addition to samples from the Co-op’s own Carriage House Bakery and Deli there will be offerings from Co-op vendors: Canton Apples cider and juice, Village Veggies fresh produce, Cedar Hedge Farm goat cheese, Aqua ViTea kombucha, Guayaki yerba mate, Farmer Street Pantry salad dressing and apple sauce, and more!
This is an event for all ages and there will be fun children’s activities, said a press release from the Co-Op.
Music will be provided throughout the day by local musicians.
The Potsdam Food Co-op is located at 24 Elm Street. It is open daily from 8am to 7pm. It is a member-owned cooperative grocery store (although membership is not required), committed to the community and local sustainability. Its emphasis is on providing natural and organic foods with the practice of buying from local and regional growers and producers.
A large selection of specialty foods such as gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan foods are also available.
