POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce will host its first “Food Crawl” on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 4 to 5 p.m.

“We hope to hold a food crawl every other month,” said Executive Director Marylee Ballou. The theme of this first crawl is hot beverages. It seemed appropriate with the weather we are having lately.”

Future food crawls will have different food themes.

The crawl will begin at First Crush Bistro, 32 Market St., then move across the street to the café at The University Bookstore, and conclude at the 3 Bears Gluten Free Bakery, 51 Market St.

Each location will offer the attendees a drink sample and perhaps a food sample. Beverages will include mixture of coffee, hot chocolate, and warm cider. The locations will have a 20-minute opportunity to tell the group of its history, menu offerings, and more before the group moves on.

“Anyone can attend this free food crawl, but they do need to register with the chamber by Monday February 23. We need to provide the locations with a headcount in order to prepare,” Ballou said.

“We hope to give the public an opportunity to taste some of the great offerings our eateries and food related businesses provide. We want to give those locations a chance to reach out to perhaps new customers or to highlight a new or unique product they offer. We are fortunate to have many choices when it comes to eating in Potsdam. Sometimes people stick to what they know, and forget about the variety that is offered here. This is one fun way to step out with others and try something new,” she said.
