POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce picked the Potsdam Public Library to receive the 2014 Pride in Potsdam Community Award.
“The nomination of the Potsdam Public Library for this award had overwhelming support,” chamber executive director Marylee Ballou said. “It has been an amazing experience just to read through all the letters … from longstanding library patrons…some for 10, 25, 50 years as well as parents who appreciate how the library helps them to build special bonds and memories with their children.”
The award reflects the ongoing efforts of the library in enhancing the quality of life in Potsdam, the chamber said.
"The library has engaged in activities that resulted in positive acclaim for themselves as well as the community as a whole," the chamber said.
The Potsdam Public Library claimed the highest circulation in the entire North Country Library System in 2012 and 2013 and continues high circulation numbers. They also lead others in the North Country Library System in the number of open hours, seven days a week, including four evenings per week, the chamber cited.
The award will be presented at the Potsdam Chamber annual dinner on Nov. 13 in the Barben Rooms at Clarkson University’s Cheel Campus Center. The cost of the "Simply Italian Buffet" dinner will be $30 per person with cocktails at 6 p.m. and the dinner at 6:30 p.m. To RSVP for the dinner, contact the Potsdam Chamber at 274-9000 or at potsdamchamber@slic.com
RSVP by Nov. 6.
