NORWOOD -- Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Potsdam Brass Quintet aka PBQ returns to the Norwood Village Green Concert Series for the fourth time on Sunday, July 8, at 7 p.m.
Teaching Artists in Residence at the Crane School of Music, this quintet, founded in 1968, has been at the pinnacle of this genre since its beginning.
Although the personnel has changed over the years, its mission has not – to be inspiring teachers to their brass students, while at the same time offering the very best repertoire of the Brass Quintet literature to its audiences, both locally and internationally.
The current members are John Ellis and James Madeja - trumpets, Lauren Becker – horn, Mark Hartman – trombone, and Charles Guy - tuba.
The series acoustic concerts are supported in part by The Sweetgrass Foundation.
Admission is free to both concerts but there is a “pass the bucket” collection. The series’ primary support is from organizations, foundations, businesses and individuals.
The series continues to take donations by check. They can be mailed to: Norwood Village Green Concert Series, 3 Bicknell Street, Norwood 13668. All contributions are tax deductible. Donations are encouraged and needed.
