COLTON -- The Potsdam Brass Quintet will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 in the final event of the Town of Colton 2018 Summer Music Series.
The concert is at the gazebo behind the Colton Museum on Main Street
The event includes an ice cream social provided by St. Patrick’s-St. Paul’s Altar Rosary Society.
The quintet, established in 1968, is the brass quintet-in-residence at The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. It is one of the oldest professional brass quintets in the country, celebrating its golden anniversary this year. They have performed at venues across the United States and Canada including Lincoln Center in New York City and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.
The current members are John Ellis and James Madeja, trumpet, Lauren Becker, horn, Mark Hartman, trombone, and Charles Guy, tuba.
If the weather cooperates and the performance is held outside, then audience participants need to bring chairs or blankets for outdoor seating. If it’s raining, they will move nearby to St. Patrick’s Church Parish Center along State Highway 56 where chairs will be provided.
Attendance is free.
