CANTON – America’s love of sending picture postcards began with the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893.
The period from 1905 to 1915 is known as the “Postcard Craze” era because people sent postcards to friends whenever they went on even the shortest of trips. In 1907 alone, the United States Post Office reported that over 764 million postcards were sent by Americans!

Rollins, staff member at the Potsdam Public Museum, will share images from his own extensive personal collection of approximately 8,000 historic postcards of St. Lawrence County.
