MASSENA -- A series of “Green Homes for Cleaner Lakes” workshops by the state Pollution Prevention Institute will be held during March and April. All workshops are free and run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the community center, 61 Beach St. Free product samples and refreshments will be provided. Series workshops include:
• March 18: How Green is your Clean? Learn about household cleaning product choices.
• March 25: Safer Household Products: Learn about how cookware, food storage containers, light bulbs and furniture may affect your health and the environment.
• April 8: Hazardous Waste at Home: Learn about how to store and dispose of hazardous waste such as paint cans, batteries, drugs and computers.
• April 15: Potential Hidden Dangers of Personal Care Products: Learn more about the ingredients in everyday products like deodorant, perfume and makeup.
The program aims to educate homeowners on ways to improve water quality in the Great Lakes.
