NORFOLK – Plumbrook Pony Farm hosts their annual fall Concours D'Autumne Sunday, Sept. 23.
“Eventing,” also known as a horse triathlon, is a comprehensive equestrian sport. The contest consists of three phases: the precision of dressage, the courage of cross country, and the obedience of stadium jumping.
The cross-country portion of the event is considered by far the most important part, with scoring weighted 12:3:1 for cross-country, dressage, and jumping. The focus on cross-country derives from the history of eventing as a cavalry exercise.
Plumbrook's riding students will compete against riders from other local barns. Sunday's event will begin at 9 a.m. at the farm on Cty. Rt. 38 in Norfolk. All are welcome. Refreshments will be available.
