OGDENSBURG – People are already signing up to prove their willingness to chill for a cause as the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce and the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad host the annual Polar Bear Plunge Saturday, Feb. 16.

The sixth annual plunge will be held at the municipal marina at 1 p.m.

The donation is $35 pledge per person in support .

The person who recruits the most pledges will win 10 percent of the purse; last year’s winner won $490. Prizes will also be awarded for the best costume.

The rescue squad will cut a hole in the ice and provide divers and harnesses. They have also arranged for a hot tub on the Visitor’s Center patio and hot showers in the boaters’ lounge.

Hot food and drinks will be available for spectators and plungers. A 50/50 raffle will be held and door prizes will be given.

Children under 18 must have written parental consent.

Pledge forms can be obtained at the chamber office at 1 Bridge Plaza or from ogdensburgny.com.

For more information contact Sandy Porter at the chamber office at 393-3620.
