OGDENSBURG -- The softball field at Champlain St. will be dedicated as the Peg LaVigne Softball Field at a public ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29.
The late Peg LaVigne was instrumental in forming and leading the Ogdensburg Women's Softball League, which presently remains very active.
LaVigne was also very involved with adult exercise classes, volleyball, public skating at the Golden Dome and high school dances.
She received the Ogdensburg Parks & Recreation Certificate of Appreciation in 1989 for 40 years of outstanding and dedicated service.
A memorial sign, paid for by fundraising, was recently installed at the softball field by the Parks & Recreation Department.
