POTSDAM -- Aired on WCKN-TV on Monday, Nov. 24 and Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m., Peak Moment TV host Janaia Donaldson talks with Pawa Haiyupis, a First Nations woman whose full name is Pawatsqwachitl. She comes from Ahousaht on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

She works with youth, elders and spiritual leaders to practice their culture and "activate their blood memories," as one elder calls it. She describes her work: "We're going on medicine walks, we're doing sweats in safe spaces, and we're learning about our creation stories and sacred sites in our culture."

Pawatsqwachitl gives a glimpse of a different way of relating to one another and the earth from a culture that has been sustainable for many thousands of years.

Now in its sixth year, the Peak Moment TV programs air every week at 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday on WCKN, Time Warner Digital 30. Peak Moment explores locally reliant living for challenging times. The programs are underwritten locally by The Center for Excellence in Communication at Clarkson University and the Seymour Family of Potsdam.

Peak Moment TV will be back in December with more all-new shows. The topics covered will include local food production, renewable energy, transportation alternatives, sustainable building, preparedness and psychological, business, and governmental responses. More than 80 Peak Moment TV shows are available on DVDs which can be borrowed from the Potsdam Public Library, 2 Park St., from the collection of shows purchased for broadcast locally.
