Peak Moment TV host Janaia Donaldson meets with Daniel Lerch, co-editor of The Post Carbon Reader, in a program that can be seen Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 21 and 22 at 7 p.m. on WCKN, Cable Channel 30.
Lerch will explore issues of a global society with contracting energy supplies in the face of growing population and economic demands.
The Post Carbon Institute examines the 21st century's global sustainability crisis.
How do population, water, energy, food, and climate issues impact one another? What can we do to address one problem without making the others worse? The Post Carbon Reader features essays from renewable energy and urban agriculture to social justice and community resilience, at http://www.postcarbon.org/reader.
Lerch says renewable energy will never be able to replace fossil fuels. Thus resilience — the capacity of a system to withstand disturbance while retaining its fundamental integrity — needs to replace sustainability as a guide to action.
Now in its third year, Peak Moment TV programs air every week at 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday on WCKN, Time Warner Channel 30. Peak Moment explores locally reliant living for challenging times.
