POTSDAM -- Peak Moment TV host Janaia Donaldson will talk with Shasta Martinuk and Brian Hoover, who facilitate Rhythm Circles, drum and song circles, and a unique form called TaKeTiNa.

The program will air on WCKN-TV on Mon., Sept. 29 and Tues., Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.

Their circles aren’t about performance, so people can enjoy without those pressures. Participants learn through call and response rather than sheet music. Join a TaKeTiNa circle, where the facilitators create universal rhythms for simple dance movement, clapping and vocalizations.

“TaKeTiNa is a way of connecting with the deepest part of ourselves … with each other…with rhythm …with archetypes that govern the nature of the universe,” says Martinuk. Participants share that it’s not only fun, but it has a lasting harmonizing effect on the body.

Now in its sixth year, the Peak Moment TV programs air weekly at 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday on WCKN, Time Warner Digital 30.

Peak Moment explores locally reliant living for challenging times. The programs are underwritten locally by The Center for Excellence in Communication at Clarkson University and the Seymour Family of Potsdam.

All the programs are available on the internet at www.wordpress.peakmoment.tv/conversations/ in both video and audio format.

In addition, more than 80 Peak Moment TV shows are now available on DVDs which can be borrowed from the Potsdam Public Library from the collection of shows purchased for broadcast locally.
