Participants, volunteers sought for annual GEAR adventure race Sept. 25

The Health Initiative's fourth annual GEAR event on Saturday, Sept. 25.

GEAR is a fund-raising adventure race with canoeing, on and off road biking, trail running and walking, and mystery challenges to be held somewhere in the wilds of St. Lawrence County.

Part of the adventure is the secrecy of the race location, which is made known two days before the event.

The Initiative is encouraging businesses to challenge another local business to compete against in this event. Sponsor employees for any division they choose and the business team with the most money raised above the entry fee will win bragging rights, media recognition, and a 20 percent discount on one Work Well Investment a la carte service. Employees will also be eligible for regular division prizes.

Three race courses will be offered: Go Easy, an introductory 4 to 6 mile course for first-time racers and families with younger children; Go Energetic, an intermediate 12 to 15 mile course for those teams or families looking for a challenge; and Go Extreme, a longer, more rigorous 17 to 21 mile course for experienced racers.
