WADDINGTON -- Organizers of the Miss and Mister Outdoors Pageant, set for Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. as part of the Party in the Park at Whittaker Park, are seeking participants.
The event will be aimed at a hunting and fishing-themed, but event organizers say participants can use any theme related to outdoor activities, such as four-wheeling, boating, camping, hiking and biking.
"We are looking to get a minimum of 30 contestants to enter the pageant. Costumes do not have to elaborate or flashy. The judges will be looking for creativity and how the theme is presented. The stage will feature a hunting/fishing theme including props, and decoys," pageant organizer Carmella Phelix said.
Entry fee is $100.
Categories judged include overall looks, eyes, hair, attire, smile, personality and theme wear.
Participants, for an extra $25 each, can compete for the "Daddy and Me" award or "Mrs. and Mr. Theme Wear." Since the categories have a buy-in, their prizes will be determined by the number of entries.
Divisions are separated by gender. Age brackets include 0 to 1, 2 to 4, 5 to 7 and 8 to 11. Ages 12 to 14 and 15 to 18 are girls only.
Registration deadline is Sept. 18. Those entering need to put down a 50 percent deposit.
