PARISHVILLE -- The Town of Parishville continues its bicentennial celebration this weekend with a parade at noon on Saturday, live music, historical presentations, family activities, fireworks and more July 26-27.
The parade begins at noon and will not take place at 1 p.m. as had been incorrectly reported in some earlier stories.
Inflatable bounce houses, a magic show, tug-of-war competition, softball tournament, 5k walk/runs and a sand castle competition are also among the events planned to celebrate the town’s 200th birthday.
“Everything is free all weekend except for a small fee for the 5k runs and food,” said event organizer Bob Wickwire.

Saturday, July 26
• Downtown activities -- coffee, doughnuts, town hall, 7:30-11 a.m.; food concessions, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; town history slideshow, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; parade, Main Street to firemen’s field, noon; horseshoe tournament, AmVets, 1-4 p.m.; interviews by Joan Thaler Dobie with older residents for multi-media document on town’s history, museum, 3-5 p.m.; Northern Music Stage Downtown, horse-drawn tours of hamlet and old Homes Bands, 1-5 p.m.; Ed McCarthy, Special Ed & Friends, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; Generation Gap, older country, 2-5 p.m.; Long Time Gone, older rock & roll, 5-8 p.m.; Max Ryder Band, southern rock & blues, 8-11 p.m.; mini-soccer tournament, high school field, 4-7 p.m.; fireworks display on river, Jeff and Janie James’ home, 10-10:30 p.m.
• Firemen’s Field activities -- car show, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.; band concert after parade, 1-3 p.m.; High Peaks Winery, wine tasting, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; main concession stand, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; one-pitch softball tournament, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; firemen’s hall dinner, 12:30-3 p.m.; craft fair, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; bus transportation between venues, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
