Paddlers get set to launch for the Remington II, downstream race stretches from Rensselaer Falls to Heuvelton

HEUVELTON -- Rensselaer Falls to Heuvelton is the six-mile route of the event known for over 30 years as Remington II.

St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers will again be the hosts, with registration at 9 a.m. on Sept. 2 and paddlers on the start line at 10 a.m.

There are two rapids to either carry around or paddle through during this downstream race. Look for the signs on West Front Street in Rensselaer Falls for the registration table.

The event will coincide with Heuvelton Labor Day festivities.

The schedule is:

Friday

7:00 to 11:00 pm Dance at AmVets with Pure Country

Saturday

8:00 am Fishing derby

9:00 am Registration for Remington II Canoe Race (10:00 recreation class start, 10:10 race class), registration on West Front Street, Rensselaer Falls

10:00 am Library quilt show at Pickens Hall

10:00 am Baby contest at St. Raphael’s Parish Center

Noon Duck race at the Flat Rocks

4:00 pm Lawnmower races (Horseshoe Road, Heuvelton)

Dusk - Fireworks

Sunday

11:00am-6:00pm Jungle bounce house and obstacle course (behind Doug’s) free

11:30- 1:00 Ice cream social by donation (St. Raphael’s lawn)

Noon Float judging and parade lineup (south state Route 812)

1:00 pm Parade

After Parade - AmVets Chicken BBQ, Ice cream social continues on St. Raphael’s lawn with Cubby the Clown and Games, lawnmower races (Horseshoe Road, Heuvelton)

3:00 Buana Jim Wildlife Show (Pickens Hall) by donation

4:00 Pirate Show (Doug’s Tavern)
