CHIPPEWA BAY -- The Economic Development Committee of Hammond is taking pre-registrations for its first ever "Paddle Poker Run,” slated for Aug. 16.

The event is a run, not a race. Participants will stop at various islands around Chippewa Bay and collect five cards. The three best poker hands win prizes.
Registration starts that day at 8 a.m. with oars in the water at 9 a.m. Awards will be given and a kayak raffled at 1 p.m. at the Chippewa Bay Fish and Game Club. Kayak raffle tickets can be purchased from the pre-registration website.
The public can go to the club for food and entertainment by Chippewa Breeze from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
