CANTON -- A parent-student information session for the P-TECH Academy (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the St. Lawrence-Lewis Boces Educational Services Center, 40 West Main St. from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The P-TECH Academy (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) is a new model for secondary education that trades classrooms for “innovation spaces” and ditches lectures for group collaboration and hands-on learning, according to program coordinator Tamara Hill.
“Mentoring, workplace visits, job shadowing, and internships are integrated into each student’s P-TECH School experience. P-TECH students are incoming ninth-graders who will attend high school for six years, simultaneously earning a Regents high school diploma and a tuition-free associate’s degree from North Country Community College or SUNY Canton focusing on science, math, and technology,” she said.
