COLTON -- Local Living Venture will present the workshop “The World is Your Oyster Mushroom: Simple Techniques For Growing Oyster Mushrooms” in the Colton area from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.
The hands-on workshop is presented in partnership between Mike Corse of Deep Root Mushroom Farm and the LLV, interested parties must register to receive the exact location of the event.
Corse will guide participants through a tour of his shiitake yard and grow room as well as demonstrate various methods of mushroom cultivation and preparation.
Participants will go home with a share of mushrooms to grow and enjoy at a later date.
Corse began growing shiitake and oyster mushrooms in 2010, selling them at the Canton and Potsdam Farmers Markets, Nature's Storehouse in Canton and occasionally to Jake's On The Water in Hannawa Falls.
Cost of the workshop is $27 general public, $50 couple/family of two, and $15 for students. Materials are included.
LLV workshop presenters are volunteers who donate their time to share their skills with their North Country neighbors and to support the Local Living Venture.
