HEUVELTON -- The Heuvelton Historical Association education committee is sponsoring a free birds of prey demonstration at Pickens Hall, 83 State St. on Oct. 17 at 10 a.m.
Master Falconer Rick West, of Adams will exhibit birds including hawks, owls, falcons and eagles.
West holds state and federal licenses and has been breeding and training birds for more than 30 years.
He also has been educating people about these creatures.
In his program, West will discuss breeding, caring for, and training his birds, their unique hearing, eyesight, and plumage, their lifecycles, falconry as a sport, and how some species previously on the endangered list have been brought back.
