Paula Towne of Gouverneur will open her home studio to visitors during the county-wide art tour

POTSDAM -- Over 30 artists around St. Lawrence County are opening their workspaces for the public to visit on Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Artists' Studio Tour is an annual county-wide event. The St. Lawrence County Arts Council publishes a free brochure so anyone can take a free self-guided tour and meet potters, painters, jewelers, fiber artists, photographers, and more in their own communities.

Tour locations and artists in Potsdam include Christina Adams, jewelry and art made from melted glass and recycled items, 41 Elm St.; James Bullard, Adirondack and North Country landscape and photography, also flowers and digital alterations, headshots $10, 41 Elm St.; Virginia Burnett, hand-dyed beaded, painted and embellished jewelry, scarves, wearable art, 41 Elm St.; Leigh Chapman, cards, books, paintings, 32 Lawrence Ave.; Sara Lynch, paintings, ceramics, jewelry, 41 Elm St.; Isaac Snell, wheel-thrown stoneware and porcelain, 41 Elm St.; Radmila Zuman, sterling silver and organic pendants and earrings, 41 Elm St.

In Canton: Nancy Bracket, silver jewelry, pendants, earrings, cuffs, inlay bracelets, knife handles, 651 State Highway 310; Ronald Larsen, notecards, bookmarks, stoneware pottery and nature photography, kiln tours and throwing demos, 174 County Rte. 35; Roxanne H. Locy, pottery with floral and Adirondack motifs, 169 O'Brien Road; Kathy Montan, hand-felt wool pictures, wall hangings inspired by natural world, 76 O’Brien Road; Cait Throop, handwoven wearable art, scarves, wraps, cuffs, towels, 651 State Highway 310; The TAUNY Center, 53 Main St., showcase traditional and regional arts, demos by the following artists: Vernice Church, spinning, fiber arts; William Parmer, plein air painting; Paula Russell, rug hooking.

Colton artists include Mary Ann and Malcolm Owen, copper artwork using basic metalworking techniques, 145 Irish Settlement Road.

In Gouverneur Paula Towne will showcase pen and ink, watercolor, canvases, wood burning, collage, and handmade rugs at 26 Barnes Street.

Hammond will featured Scott Ouderkirk with stained glass windows, panels and lamps, new book, 291 River Road.

Artists in Morristown include Karan Cross, MaryAnn Evans, Melanie Kimbler-Lago, Gary Pierce, Mares Wares, 3938 State Highway 37.

Ogdensburg will showcase The Artistic Eye with Thomas Robarge, Jr.

Featured Parishville artists include Ann Burnham, thrown and hand-built forms, 109 Picketville Road; Helen Condon, rug-braiding workshop, demos, Christmas items, 1737 State Highway 72; Sandy Maine, ADK Fragrance & Flavor Farm, tour of soap factory, 1551 State Highway 72; Claire Poirer, 2ND Time Around, products made from recycled fabrics, wood, denim, more, 109 Picketville Road; Michiko Taylor, framed original watercolors, prints and cards, demos, 65 County Route 47.

Artists participating in Rensselaer Falls include Mary Harding, ceramic, metal and seed bead jewelry, 162 County Road 14; Kyle and Sally Hartman, Ladies First Gallery, porcelain, photography, paintings, demos, 208 Front Street (County Road 15).

Waddington will feature the Artworks Creperie with over 40 local artists displaying and selling their fine crafts, 2 Main St.

In West Stockholm, Becky Harblin, will showcase her landscapes and waterscapes of Northern New York and New England, 16 Tanner Road.

Participants can watch artists work and view their workspace.
