Orchestra of Northern New York to present 'Christmas Around the World' holiday concert Dec. 12, 13

POTSDAM -- Enjoy the holiday season with songs from around the globe when The Orchestra of Northern New York presents its holiday concert, "Christmas Around the World" with Kenneth Andrews conducting.

Performances by the region's only symphony orchestra will be Friday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in SUNY Potsdam's Hosmer Hall; Saturday and Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Massena High School, featuring the Massena High School Mixed Choir.

Such holiday favorites as Do You Hear What I Hear, Fantasia on Greensleeves, "The Hallelujah Chorus" from Messiah, The Nutcracker, The Carol of the Bells, Sleigh Ride, and Haydn's Toy Symphony, among others, will be performed by the 55-piece professional orchestra.

The Massena concert is a benefit for the Massena Music Friends, a volunteer group which purchases needed musical instruments for Massena schools.

Tickets are available at Season’s Specialty Gifts, 27 West Orvis St. and Phil and Jackie’s, 69 Main St.. Advance sale adult tickets are $15, while students ages 6 to 17 and senior citizens 62 and older will pay $12. Ticket prices at the door are $18 and $15.

Tickets for the Potsdam concert are $22 adults, $20 for seniors, and free for children and students up to age 17. They may be purchased in advance by calling 267-2277 or at the door.

The Orchestra of Northern New York is celebrating its 27th season with a six-concert series including classical, Baroque, and pops concerts.
