OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce will present its third annual “Ogtoberfest” featuring a fireworks show, live music, inflatables from Seaway Valley Jumpers, the Ogdensburg GreenMarket and other local vendors.

Organizers say the event will take place rain or shine and a tents will be available to keep people dry.

“Ogtoberfest was created as something to do in the fall for the community…its pretty quiet around here sometimes and we wanted to draw people to the area,” event organizer Lee Jones said.

The festival will be outside the Dobisky Visitor’s Center on Oct. 4 from 2 to 8 p.m. Kids' activities will begin earlier, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the area near Kids Kingdom on the river side of the tennis courts. Admission is $3 adults and kids under 12 are free.

Food vendors will serve German cuisine, such as sausage and sauerkraut, hot dogs, pretzels and more. There will be a beer garden, wineries and other refreshments, as well.

A nice fireworks display will be held at dusk overlooking the St. Lawrence River. The fireworks are sponsored by Mort Backus and Sons who are celebrating 60 years in business,” event organizer Sean McNamara said.

Seaway Valley Jumpers will bring bounce houses and Remington Museum Kids Place will bring art and craft activities. Several local musicians will perform and there will also be Ogtoberfest sweatshirts and hats for sale.

Anyone interested can contact Laura Pearson at the chamber at 393-3620 to signup or for more details.

“Executive Director Laura Pearson and her staff have been working hard to make this a great event,” McNamara said.

Many service organizations, city representatives and the Frederic Remington Museum Kids Place will be in attendance.

The festival will cap off with a fireworks show around 7:45 p.m. that is expected to last around 30 to 40 minutes, Jones said. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.

“The chamber is grateful for Mort Backus sponsoring the fireworks presentation this year,” McNamara said.

Organizers said they expect between 1,500 and 2,000 people to attend this year and appreciate the support the community has shown for the event.
