OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Tree Commission will hold an emerald ash borer (EAB) tree tagging event on Wednesday, May 23 at 10 a.m. at Groulx Park on Ford Street Extension.
The tree tagging event will take place during Emerald Ash Borer Awareness Week May 21-25.
EAB is an invasive species of wood-boring beetles that destroys ash trees within two to four years of infestation.
EAB has been confirmed in St. Lawrence County.
The purpose of the event will be help the public identify ash trees so they will be aware if ash trees are located on their property and so they can be proactive.
The seven, large adult ash trees at Groulx Park will be tagged for the public by the tree commission.
The public is welcome to attend.
