CANTON -- American military uniform design transformed significantly between 1810 and the Battle of New Orleans in January 1815.

Learn more about the “American Infantry Uniform at New Orleans 1815” when David Murray speaks Saturday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association Silas Wright House, 3 East Main St.

This War of 1812 program is part of the St. Lawrence County Historical Association’s Commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, which was fought from 1812-1815.

St. Lawrence County was one of the battlefields of the War of 1812.

This presentation will focus on the design characteristics of the immediate pre-war American Infantry uniform, and examine the changes from its form in 1810 to the more efficient design at the end of the war in early 1815 at the culminating battles in New Orleans.

David Murray is an Ogdensburg native who attended local schools and received his bachelor of arts in history from SUNY Potsdam.
