OGDENSBURG -- A new dojo will celebrate its opening with a two-day open house.
Thousand Islands Martial Arts, 938 Ford St., will open its doors to the public on Friday, May 1 from 1 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Owners Ricky and Angela Rodriguez studied under grandmaster Kaicho Nakamura at Seido Karate in New York City. After returning to the North Country, the trained under sensei Valerie Cummings at Thousand Islands Martial Arts, in Brockville, Ontario, with whom the Ogdensburg dojo is affiliated.
The Ogdensburg dojo will be open Monday to Thursday and Saturday.
They will offer monthly rates and family discounts.
