OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Auxiliary is sponsoring a new outreach project to our community beginning Sept. 1.
The goal of "Sock-It-To-Me" is ensuring that all area families, especially the children, have warm feet this winter.
The goal is to collect 1,000 pairs of socks before Sept. 30, which will be distributed to local agencies, to children and families who are in need.
Research has shown that bare feet are susceptible to dry and cracked skin that can lead to infection, CHMC says.
The CHMC Auxilairy will collect socks of all sizes, from infant to adult, throughout September.
Decorated boxes can be found in the hospital lobby and cafeteria.
They will also collect socks at Walmart on Sept. 6 and 20.
