OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, in conjunction with the St. Lawrence Health Initiative’s Cancer Services Program, will offer a free breast cancer screening for the uninsured.
The screening will be Oct. 16 at the Connection for Women.
Dr. Kiri Brandy will provide free clinical breast exams and Dr. Ali Gharagozloo will provide free mammogram readings.

Additionally, Claxton-Hepburn’s Richard E. Winter Cancer Center is hosting a Pink Ribbon Evening to Remember fundraiser on Oct. 3 at the St. Lawrence Valley Sportsman’s Club in Ogdensburg from 5 to 8:30 p.m. A buffet dinner will be served and entertainment will be provided by comedy hypnotist Don Swan. Tickets are $35 per person or $60 a couple. Only 200 tickets will be sold. Proceeds will benefit the Cancer Center and the Gouverneur Business Women’s Breast Cancer Fund. The Cancer Center’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk will be held on Oct. 16 beginning with registration at 6 p.m. at the Dobisky Center. All walkers will receive a pink water bottle and glow stick. The Walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at Claxton-Hepburn’s Hess Auditorium where light refreshments will be available.
On Oct. 17, National Mammography Day, the hospital will host a celebration in its Cornerstone Café from 1 to 3 p.m. serving cupcakes, cookies and punch.
