How To Shop At A Farm Market:

Arrive Early Before everything’s been picked over or sold out.

Walk Around Selections change each week depending on what’s in season.

Ask Questions Everyone around you cares about fresh and nutritious food in a big way and are happy to talk about how to grow it and how to cook it.

Touch, Feel and Smell Generally the best vegetables feel heavier and don’t have bruises. Pick it up smell how fresh it is. Everyone understands about the touch/smelling rule.

Bring Plenty of Bills Small bills are best. Generally a farm market is a cash business. The Ogdensburg GreenMarket does accept Food Stamps, WIC and Senior Coupons.

Bring Bags Not really necessary, but it shows your eco support.
