Dozens expected to jump into frigid Seaway at Polar Bear Plunge in Ogdensburg March 20

OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce and the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad will host its 10th Polar Bear Plunge March 20 at the Dobisky Visitor’s Center.

The event was postponed in February due to extreme cold weather.

Registration will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the plunge will start at 1 p.m.

New events include the Badge Battle, which will put law enforcement, emergency responders and fire departments battling for the most plunge pledges.

People can partake in an ugly fur coat contest for a $25 prize.

There’s a new “Scaredy-Cat Club” for those who are too scared to plunge. They can sign up to join the club, raise money for a great cause, and win prizes for costumes and the most pledges raised. Registration in the club is $10 if no pledge money is raised.

A new “Cubs’ Den,” for the “cubs” who come to watch the plunge, features games, face painting and refreshments. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free.

Admission is free to watch the plunge.

Call the Ogdensburg Chamber at 393-3620 for more information or a pledge form, or email info@ogdensburgny.com, or visit our website at www.ogdensburgny.com.
