OGDENSBURG — The City of Ogdensburg will bring in the holiday season with the “Light Up the Night Parade” featuring about 70 floats and a visit from Santa Claus on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m.
Participants will line up at 5 p.m. in the parking lot of at Ogdensburg Free Academy. The parade will proceed down State Street to the Dobisky Community Center.
The parade will include a variety of floats from businesses and organizations as well as vehicles from the fire department and police agencies, said event organizer Kathy Bouchard.
The Greenbelt area will be decked out in holiday decorations and lights. Mayor Bill Nelson will announce the parade and speak to children following the parade.
Santa will be the final float in the parade and he will stop at the community center and meet with and talk to children. Parents are welcome to bring cameras or cellphones to take photos of their kids with Santa.
Kids can enter to win a tablet that was donated by America One Realty.
Local musical organization Pro Musica will sing seasonal songs at the center.
“They are awesome,” Bouchard said.
There will be beverages, candy and treats for those waiting to greet Santa.
The Amvets will provide a free meal following the parade for all parade participants. Soups and sandwiches will be served.
