OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg native and artist Edward M. Basta will have his works exhibited at Cape Vincent’s Breakwater Galley June 17 from 5 to 7 p.m.
It will include is wood-base oil lamps, “Woodscapes and encaustic art.
He lamps are made from native wood and are turned on a lathe and later finished with eco-friendly oils. A glass chimney houses the flame.
“Woodscapes” are street scene sculptures made from recycled wood, rusty bolts and other found objects. They show things such as gas station signs or old cars.
Encaustic art is a wax painting technique, the origins of which can be traced back thousands of years. The design is created using colored beeswax and heat.
Basta’s artwork has been displayed throughout the northeast, including the New York State Fair and the Cornhill Art Festival in Rochester. He has received awards for his works.
