MASSENA -- The New York Power Authority will host its free annual Wildlife Festival at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center, Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will feature fun for the entire family with exhibits of live animals, nature displays, arts, crafts and entertainment.
The World of Wildlife and Educational Encounters (WOWEE) will be on hand once again with a variety of exotic and endangered animals. WOWEE volunteers will also provide interactive shows at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. In between shows, WOWEE volunteers will be on-hand to answer questions about the exotic and endangered animals.
The annual Wildlife Festival will also feature representatives from Reptiles Forever, who will showcase a variety of insects and reptiles, including a python and a 50-pound turtle. There will be a petting zoo with farm animals; craft projects; wagon rides; and movies in the visitors center theater.
The Hawkins Point Visitors Center will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a wide range of interactive exhibits on subjects such as water power, the St. Lawrence-FDR Project and the basics of electricity. Visitors can also take in the visitor center’s panoramic views of the power dam.
