NYPA shows 'Lincoln,' 'The Way We Were,' 'The Seven Year Hitch,' and 'The African Queen' throughout June in Massena

MASSENA -- The New York Power Authority will hold free “Friday Matinees” in June, with showings of classic and contemporary movies at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center.

Movies will be shown at 1:30 p.m. Fridays in the visitors center auditorium. Free popcorn will be served.

June movies will be:

• June 7: “Lincoln,” (2012). America's president struggles with carnage on the battlefield and the decision to emancipate the slaves as the Civil War continues to rage.

• June 14: “The Way We Were,” (1973). Two desperate people have a wonderful romance, but their political views and convictions drive them apart.

• June 21: “The Seven Year Hitch,” (2012). Two best friends accidentally take their relationship to the next level and suddenly find themselves saying 'I do.'

• June 28: “The African Queen,” (1951). In Africa during WW1, a gin-swilling riverboat captain is persuaded by a strait-laced missionary to use his boat to attack an enemy warship.
