MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA)’s December matinee schedule will include a selection of holiday movies featuring contemporary themes and new twists on seasonal traditions.

The free movies will be shown Fridays in December at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center auditorium at 1:30 p.m. Free popcorn will be available.

The December schedule is:

Dec. 2: “Miracle on 34th Street” (1994). In this remake of the holiday classic, a single mother and her young daughter befriend a department store Santa Claus who claims he is the real deal.

Dec. 9: The Santa Clause 2” (2002). Scott Calvin has been a humble Santa Claus for nearly ten years, but it might come to an end if he doesn't find a Mrs. Claus.

Dec. 16: “Christmas Lodge” (2011). Hoping to cheer up her ill grandfather, Mary seeks to restore the dilapidated lodge where her family spent many happy Christmases, and as she works hard to fulfill her goal, she finds love with Jack, whose own family is deeply connected to the lodge.

Dec. 23 “Elf” (2003). After inadvertently wreaking havoc on the elf community due to his ungainly size, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole is sent to the U.S. in search of his true identity.

NYPA will also be showing family-friendly movies on Dec. 27, 28, 29 and 30, during the school break. That movie schedule will be announced shortly.
