Norwood Village Green Concert Series starts season May 28

NORWOOD -- The Norwood Village Green Concert Series opens its 42nd season on Thursday, May 28, with the St. Lawrence County Pop Choral Stage Band Festival.

School groups from Potsdam, Canton, Norwood-Norfolk, Colton-Pierrepont, Massena, Hermon-DeKalb, and Lisbon will perform.

The music begins at 3:30 p.m. and ends around 9 p.m. and will include eleven performances from area students.

The Norwood-Norfolk-Jazz Ensemble hits the stage at 3:30 p.m. led by Sarah Towler and will be followed by the Lisbon Jazz Band directed by Glenn Roberts at 4 p.m.

At 4:30 p.m. David Alderson leads a performance by the JW Leary Middle School Jazz/Rock Band which precedes the Colton-Pierrepont Jazz Band at 5 p.m. conducted by Don Washington.

The A.A. Kingston Middle Showchoir is slated for a 5:30 performance led by Laura DiMatteo and will be followed by the A.A. Kingston Middle Stage Band at 6 p.m. guided by Kylie Stenger.

Musicians from the Massena High School Jazz Ensemble directed by Jonathan Hunkins will perform at 6:30 p.m. with the Potsdam High School Jazz Band taking the stage led by Jill Rubio at 7 p.m.

Tim Savage will conduct the Canton High School Jazz Band during a 7:30 p.m. performance.

The Hermon-DeKalb Jazz Band will take center stage at 8 p.m. directed by Jonathan Pabis and the Hermon-DeKalb Rock Ensemble will round out the evening with an 8:30 p.m. concert.

All performances are held in downtown Norwood in the park. There is no admission fee.

The festival is supported by the St. Lawrence County Music Educators Association, the Potsdam Rotary Club, and many individual contributions.
