NORWOOD -- The Norwood Village Green Concert Series presents Julie Budd on Thursday, July 16 and Beartracks on Sunday, July 19. Both concerts begin at 7 p.m.

In January, Julie Budd was named winner of the Broadway/World Award for Best Show Celebrity Female for “They Wrote the Songs.”

While enjoying a multi-faceted musical career, her credits range from television to film, the New York stage, and symphonies all over the country, along with casinos and showrooms. The New York Times raved with a full 2-page glowing retrospective of Julie’s career, declaring Budd “The Consummate Performer,” village green officials said.

She began her professional career at 12, after meeting record producer and orchestrator Herb Bernstein. He immediately took her under his wing and introduced her to Merv Griffin at a recording session in New York City. She was invited to appear on more than 100 of Griffin’s Shows. From there, she went on to appear on The Tonight Show, Entertainment Tonight and other shows.

Budd co-starred with Frank Sinatra, Carol Burnett, Bill Cosby and Liberace.

Moviegoers will remember Budd’s starring role in Disney’s “The Devil & Max Devlin” with Bill Cosby and Elliot Gould. Along with this role, she worked and toured with the late Marvin Hamlisch for 40 years, who together with Carol Bayer Sager, penned the title song “Roses and Rainbows” for Budd, which she recently re-recorded and released on her album “The New Classics.” Budd has also recently appeared in the motion picture “Two Lovers” with Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Julie Venne Hogan, Scott Hopkins and Harry Ralph are “Beartracks.” Although not a traditionally structured bluegrass group, the quartet gained acceptance and a solid fan base at festivals throughout the Eastern U.S. and in Canada, from Calgary to Prince Edward Island.

Scott Hopkins, an experienced bluegrass musician, joined the group in the summer of 2012, bringing banjo and, at times, adding a third part harmony to the group. In late July 2013, the fourth bear was located at a festival in, Vt. Harry Ralph, a fiddle player, decided to accept an offer to become a permanent member of Beartracks. Admission is free but there is a “pass the bucket.”
