Norwood Village Green Concert Series to begin annual season June 2

NORWOOD -- The Norwood Village Green Concert Series opens its 43rd annual season Thursday, June 2, with the St. Lawrence County Pop Choral Stage Band Festival beginning at 3 p.m.

Twelve performing groups from six school districts will perform including Canton, Potsdam, Massena, Hermon-DeKalb, Edwards-Knox, and Lisbon.

It runs from 3 to 9 p.m. Here is the schedule of performances which is subject to change: 3 p.m., Canton High School Jazz Band; 3:30 p.m., JW Leary Junior High School Jazz/Rock Band; 4 p.m., Edwards/Knox instrumental; 4:30 p.m., Edwards/Knox Choral Group; 5 p.m., A.A. Kingston Middle School Show Choir; 5:30 p.m., Canton High School Vocal Jazz Ensembl; 6 p.m., A.A. Kingston Middle School Stage Ban; 6:30 p.m., Massena High School Jazz Ensemble; 7 p.m., Potsdam High School Jazz Ban; 7:30 p.m., Hermon-DeKalb Jazz Band; 8 p.m., Hermon-DeKalb Rock Ensemble and 8:30 p.m., Lisbon Jazz Band.

The Potsdam Central Teachers Association supports this festival in memory of Cathy M. Frick, Potsdam Central School music teacher. It is also supported by the St. Lawrence County Music Educators Association and a recent grant from National Grid.

The Norwood Village Green Concert Series presents three-time Grammy Award recipient Tom Chapin on Thursday, June 9 in two separate concerts.

The first will at 1 p.m. for elementary students of Norwood-Norfolk Central School. Students from Madrid-Waddington and Potsdam Central Schools have been invited to join the elementary school audience.

The second concert will be for the general public at 7 p.m.
