NORWOOD -- The next two scheduled performances in the Norwood Village Green Concert Series will be Beartracks Sunday, July 30, at 6 p.m.; and Kat Wright and the Indomitable Soul Band on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Northern Lights Orchestra will not perform for the Norwood Village Green Concert Series Sunday, July 30. In its place, Beartracks has been scheduled to perform.

Beartracks will perform music from it latest recording “The Other Side of the Tracks” which transforms music from many diverse genres into a bluegrass style.[img_assist|nid=203765|title=The brother and sister duo Julie Venne Hogan and Tom Hogan will perform with their band Beartracks July 30 at the Norwood Village Green|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=250|height=407]

Native to the Champlain Valley, Tom Venne and his sister Julie Venne Hogan formed Beartracks as a trio with their cousin, the late legendary dobro player Junior Barber.

Tom and Julie, at the urging of Junior, made the switch from playing traditional country music in clubs to playing bluegrass oriented material at festivals around the Northeast.

The main focus of the group was the sibling vocal harmony of Tom and Julie and Junior’s unique stylist approach to playing resonator guitar. Although not a traditionally structured bluegrass group, the trio gained acceptance and a solid fan base at festivals throughout the Eastern US and in Canada from Calgary to PEI.

As the group evolved, and after Junior’s illness, other players were added, going from a trio to a quartet. Since its inception the group has produced five recordings.

Joining Tom Venne and Julie Venne Hogan for this performance will be Sten Isachsen and Sarah Milonovich.

Sten Isachsen holds the guitar chair with country-bluegrass stars Jim Gaudet & The Railroad Boys, Harold Ford & The Cash Band and North Country songwriter Steve Smith, as well as with the renowned classical ensemble Musicians of Ma'alwyck.

Sara Milonovich is an award-winning singer, fiddler, songwriter/composer, and bandleader as well as a sought-after accompanist for a number of other artists in many musical genres.

In addition to fronting her indie alt-grass band, Daisycutter, she has performed throughout the US, Europe, and beyond, in Americana roots, folk-rock, bluegrass, Appalachian, and Celtic music, as a solo artist and in collaboration with artists such as Pete Seeger (on his Grammy-winning album “At 89”), Richard Shindell, Cathie Ryan, Eliza Gilkyson, The McKrells, Anne Hills, and Antje Duvekot, among others.

The Vermont octet Kat Wright and the Indomitable Soul Band will take the stage on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m.

Wright, whose voice is both sultry and dynamic, delicate yet powerful, and gritty but highly emotive and nuanced, has been described as “a young Bonnie Raitt meets Amy Winehouse.”

Her group, the Indomitable Soul Band features a rock solid rhythm section of bass, drums and keys; a powerful, three-piece horn section; and an electric guitarist who dances beneath the surface before exploding to the top, all blending Memphis soul and new school R&B with a high level of improvisation.

“Frighteningly good,” says Boston Public Radio of the group.

“Her smooth and serene sounding voice gives any man the chills; kind of like the capabilities Grace Potter and Susan Tedeschi possess…,” writes Cider Mag of Kat Wright.
