NORWOOD -- The Norwood Public Library has created an exhibition space to highlight the work of local artists, and Norwood painter Becky Harblin will inaugurate the gallery Aug. 6.
Her pastel painting show, Earth Wisdom: Roots In The Sea of Oneness, will be on display through Sept. 1. A reception is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13.
A trained painter, Becky majored in art, and did course work at San Diego State University. She worked at The New Yorker magazine, and several newspapers and trade publications. In recent years she has begun not only to paint again, but to sculpt in various media, and take photos with her old SLR camera.
She writes nearly daily from her home in the North Country. The poems have been published locally and online on The New Verse News. I
n September 2012, a book of her poems, Eating the Bread of this World, was published by Glover Publishing.
Harblin has begun to incorporate her studies in Amazonian Shamanism and spirituality into her poetry, sculpture and pastels.
