NORWOOD -- The Norwood Brass Firemen will perform “a concert on the pond” on Sunday, Aug. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. beginning at Terry LeFluer’s dock on Norwood Lake.
Bring a boat, kayak or canoe; or listen from the shore.
“Turnout always depends on the weather…we’ve had upwards of 30 boats before,” said event organizer Bob Haggett.
The bands will load onto a pair of pontoon boats and play Dixieland-style music.
There will be a brief stop at the Norwood Beach for a few tunes.
“Families can plan a picnic at the beach and let us entertain them,” he said.
This is the fourth year of the concert on the water. Last years was cancelled due to the death of Donald F. “Pete” LePage; who was actively involved in Norwood events including the concert.
The band is coming off of a performance in Alexandria Bay last week. They have about 25 members and even performed at the 1984 Olympics.
Terry LeFluer’s home is located near the cemetery. Following the concert there will be a get-together at LeFleur’s home with pizza and chicken wings.
“It’s a fun event…I can recall we had a couple dancing on their dock as the boats floated by last year. People can sit in their back yards and listen to the music,” he said.
