Northern Lights Orchestra to perform in O'burg, S. Colton, Massena, Waddington, Wanakena, Morristown, Gouverneur

The Northern Lights Orchestra will present its summer program “A Celtic Journey” throughout St. Lawrence County.

It will feature a number of Celtic favorites arranged for full orchestra, as well as several selections featuring the string section. Songs include traditional favorites such as “Danny Boy,” “Scotland the Brave,” “The Minstrel Boy,” and “The South Wind.”

This season’s concert series opens with a private performance on Monday, June 22, at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center. The orchestra have been performing for residents and employees there for the past four years, as a volunteer community service.

The first public concert will be at Swift Field Pavilion, South Colton on Wednesday, June 24, at 6:30 p.m. as part of the Colton Summer Concert Series.

That performance will be followed by concerts at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 9 at Massena Springs Park with a rain location in the Massena Fire Hall; Waddington at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 10 at the Waterfront Park with a rain location in the Waddington Town Hall; Wanakena at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 12 at the Village Green with a rain location at the Pine Cone Pavilion; Morristown at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 13 at Chapman Park with a rain location of the Morristown Gateway Museum; Gouverneur at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 18 at the Gouverneur Park by the River with a rain location of the Gouverneur Central School.

Admission to all public concerts is free and audiences are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.
