FC Freeze U12 Girls (7-1-0) remain undefeated.

FC Freeze returned home on Thursday July 17 to play Indian River United Soccer Club (3-0-6). FC Freeze dominated play on the pitch.

Within the first minute of play Katharine Cowen of Potsdam had her first shot on goal. Two minutes into the contest Olivia Mace’s defenders were looking at the bottoms of Mace’s cleats as she fired an unassisted long ball into the top right of the net. With 26:18 remaining in the half Gabi Jones (Potsdam) evaded opponents and passed the ball to K. Cowen who two touched the ball into the top left corner of the net for the goal. At 18:30 Jones and Mace demonstrated excellent give and go passing, resulting in Mace scoring with an assist being credited to Jones. Less than three minutes later Jones was credited with her third assist of the game as she passed to K. Cowen who threaded a low shot in the right corner of the goal. Less than two minutes later K. Cowen passes the ball to Jones who hit the left corner for the fifth and final score of the half.

In the second half of play Jones moved to goalie allowing Clara Maine (Parishville) to leave the crease. Nine minutes into the second half Potsdam’s Louisa Moosbrugger dribbled through traffic and scored an unassisted goal for the Freeze. Ten minutes later Moosbrugger passed to K. Cowen who dribbled past two defenders to score a hat trick (her third goal of the game). FC Freeze worked on their passing skills throughout the game. Natalie Cowen (Potsdam) made two shots on goal and played strong defense. Playing strong defense throughout the contest were Laura Dudek (Potsdam) and Quinn Woodward (Parishville).

With two minutes left in the game IRUSC penetrated the Freeze defense and scored their only goal of the game.

FC Freeze hosts the only other undefeated team, Upstate United SC Duck’s Dynasty (7-1-0), at St. Lawrence University on Wednesday July 23 at 6:30 p.m. They finish their league schedule on Thursday July 24 when they host the CAVS Lake Effect at 6:30 p.m.
